Autism Spectrum Disorder

Dr. Henninger has been working with children diagnosed with an autistic-spectrum disorder and ADHD for over 12 years. Our goal is to provide patients an integrative approach to medicine with an emphasis in natural therapeutics for your child’s health concerns.  This approach has helped many people on the road to better health, and we are fully committed to helping your child reach their full health potential.

At the first visit we will get to understand your story as we get to observe your child, and we will go through a rigorous examination that will help us understand  which diagnostic tests are necessary. Each child is an individual. They have been affected in their own unique way. Each child must be examined as an individual and evaluated so that the family can seek appropriate treatments.

Most importantly, rather than take a “wait and see” posture, parents should be on “high alert” when their child fails to achieve significant developmental motor and sensory milestones in order that treatment can be offered at the earliest possible time.

The health of many children suffering with autism is very complex. Digestive problems, yeast overgrowth, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies and sensitivities, gluten and casein intolerance, heavy metal toxicity, viral infections, autoimmune issues, and possible vaccine injury make up a short list of the health problems of these children. Our approach is to help optimize your child’s potential.  This includes utilizing a wide variety of diagnostic tests to assess their underlying body function, address nutritional needs with dietary and nutritional counseling, and to use herbal, homeopathic, and other natural medicines as needed to support healing and improve their vitality.  This often includes Craniosacral treatments, BioEnergetic medicine, and Homotoxicology.

Brian J. Henninger, N.D. has been working in private practice since 2002 with the DAN (Defeat Autism Now) approach. This specialty is incorporating scientific approaches to the epidemic and explores protocols which are both safe and effective for affected individuals. Some interventions are more effective than others, some carry more risk. In my capacity as a naturopathic pediatrician for over twelve years, I feel that I have both the knowledge and experience to apply the treatments with the highest chances of success while weighing the risks and costs which must be figured into that equation. This approach has grown and formalized into the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs, of which I am in the process of becoming a fellow.

All of the experts now agree that by combining the traditional methods of behavioral, occupational, physical, and speech therapies with the newest biomedical interventions, we can help our children learn and progress to amazing levels.

We are always searching for improved ways of helping autistic-spectrum and ADHD children to improve their health and to optimize their potential as unique individuals.
